Come join us for a day in the hop yard, at Clear Valley Hops in beautiful Nottawa, in Georgian Bay.
This unique 74-acre farm is located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Nottawa, Ontario, just 2 minutes outside Collingwood.
Agenda:
- 12:30 – 1 p.m. – Registration (free)
- 1-1:15 p.m. President’s welcome / news update
- 1:15-4 p.m. Field Day – Host Laurie-Thatcher Craig / John Craig walk us through their operation.
- 4 p.m. Northwinds Brewhouse & Eatery – which features craft beer made with Clear Valley Hops.
The Craig’s currently have 13 acres planted of hops, with over 18 varieties, fed by the waters of the Pretty River. The terroir of Georgian Bay comes through in the unique flavours of their hops. They are a family owned business that prides itself on as little processing of the hops as possible, in order to maintain high oil and flavour content.
Come see their custom-build hop kiln, with louvred Wolf flooring imported from Germany, with sliding tray into the conditioning building – where the hops are cooled for pelletizing.
Find out about their low heat drying technique and a unique cold press pelletizing process that preserves the oil and lupulin, as compared to the pellets from the Pacific Northwest*.
Please RSVP by July 27, by email @ info@ohga.ca, so we can make arrangements to accommodate numbers. This event is open to OHGA members and non-members alike.
BYOC – please bring your own seating!!!!
